My Parky has been reading about his East Coast cousin in Bruce Ballard’s excellent blog, Parking Suns (get it?) and is very jealous.   “New York Parky got to go hiking in Maine at Christmas – when do I get out?”  So, husband Paul and I took out West Coast Parky on a beautiful walk in urban Seattle.  This is an annual event put together by the Volkssport people.  If you’re looking for a walking group to help carry out your New Year’s resolutions, this international organization may provide an option.  Try Googling “[your city] walking groups” for other options.  (Dang!  I tried this with “Seattle Walking Groups” and my own walking group in Burien (suburban Seattle) didn’t show up.)

If you want to be a really cool kid, walk with your own Parky!  A steal at $25, these cute little guys fund travel grants for young researchers to travel to the World Parkinson Congress in Portland, Oregon this September.
